Senior Copy Manager

Your Opportunity:

You'll get to make great work with pets in broadcast TV spots and social videos. Because Chewy is in need of a Senior Copy Manager who excels (and wants to learn to get better) at those things. And do it on our highest priority workflows: The Chewy Brand. As a vital part of our Brand Creative team, this Senior Copy Manager will be responsible for helping craft the tone and execution of Chewy's most visible storytelling efforts, with a particular focus on our Broadcast and Brand Campaign creative development.

This role will report into the Brand Creative Director and will spend their days elevating our brand's standard of work up and down the marketing funnel. This Senior Copy Manager brings a proven pedigree in creating world-class creative for world-class brands. Our team aims to conceptualize and execute broadcast and social executions that move bottom lines in the right direction while breaking through and connecting with pet parents in ways that are entertaining, authentic and memorable.

At Chewy, we're doing nearly all brand development in-house these days. We are looking for someone with the strategic, conceptual and executional craft to help our brand navigate and succeed across today's modern brand landscape. This role calls for someone with the vision and heart to lead a growing Fortune 500 brand into the future of an increasingly competitive pet care industry.

This role is expected to work in-person three days a week in Boston, MA.

What You'll Do:

• Conceptualize and execute brand campaigns in everything from broadcast television commercials to social media campaigns.
• Present and sell your ideas to your Brand Creative Directors and then incorporate their feedback.
• Present and sell your ideas to stakeholders up to and including C-suite leadership.
• Lead concept development for brand campaigns across video, digital, social, and retail channels, delivering multi-channel ideas that are grounded in audience insight.
• Manage productions every step of the way.
• Own and drive the brand's voice. Build and maintain tone-of-voice documentation and help define how our brand speaks across formats and touchpoints.
• Write high-impact scripts for short- and long-form video—including brand films, social spots, paid media, and in-store content.
• Develop other copy formats, including headlines, taglines, manifestos, banners, landing pages, and email—always ensuring narrative cohesion and tonal consistency.
• Collaborate with Art Directors, Producers, and partners throughout the creative process, from concepting and scripting through production.
• Attend and contribute to campaign kickoffs, voiceover sessions, edits, and post-production reviews, ensuring the script and message carry through to the final cut.
• Adjust messaging based on audience insight, media placement, and campaign goals—moving comfortably between upper and lower funnel work.
• Mentor junior copywriters and give to a collaborative, curious, and high-performing creative culture.
• You lead projects from start to finish, working with cross-functional partners to ensure high-quality execution.
• You review and guide creative across formats, ensuring voice, tone, and story carry through across video and beyond.
• You lead by example — bringing creative rigor, craft, and a collaborative spirit to every stage of the process.

What You'll Need:

• BA in English, Journalism, Communications or a related field or commensurate experience
• Minimum 7+ years' experience concepting, developing and executing content for top tier brands and/or entertainment properties.
• Highly developed intrapersonal skills
• An ability to operate in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
• An ability to flawlessly multi-task and thrive under pressure and deadlines.
• Fluency in Microsoft Word and Figma.
• Ability to balance multiple priorities, and to quickly adjust strategy and execution in the face of new information
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• You have spent time and excelled in a top tier agency or in-house environment. You have produced broadcast work and social films.
• You think in integrated campaigns.
• You have a background in writing that is paired with a comfortable competency in visual storytelling and design development
• A diverse portfolio of brand work you're proud to discuss that showcases an ability to craft breakthrough executions
• A range of tones you excel at writing.
• A proficiency and comfort in the arenas of high-stakes production and post production
• A natural comfort owning the process and presenting creative progress to C-Suite leadership and stakeholders

The base salary range for this role is $110,500 - $176,000.00. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant. C08+ positions may also be eligible for annual bonus.

Exempt salary team members have unlimited PTO, subject to manager approval. Team members will receive six paid holidays per year. Team members may be eligible for paid sick and family leave in compliance with applicable state and local regulations.
